Cloudcroft is a 2.5 hour drive north of the airport in El Paso, Texas. Attendees are encouraged to share rental cars to limit their carbon impact, reduce cost, and minimize the number of cars on the mountain. Cloudcroft is quite small and walkable, and shuttles will be provided to the observatory. Once you have arrived at the conference site you will have little need for a car until you leave, so please share with others. Visit the wiki rideshare site to look for others with similar itineraries:
Note: there is a US Border Patrol checkpoint on the highway just after you have crossed from Texas into New Mexico. Make sure you have ID with you in the car while driving (not in your luggage in the trunk…). Non-US citizens should have their passport/visa with them even if traveling domestically to get to the meeting.
